I finally finished this chair. Actually, it's been done for some time but I just haven't been able to take very good shots of it. My home office just doesn't offer very good light.
Here it is after I took it apart but before I started stripping it.
I used the orange stripper but had to go to the stripping gel to get the job done.
My husband cleaned the joint of the arm and re-glued it.
I've done a lot of furniture stripping, sanding, staining etc. but I'm still not a fan of it.
It's a lot of work, period.
I boiled all the metal parts in water and baking soda, scrubbed with a wire brush and steel wool, then primed and painted glossy black.
At the end of the day, it was worth it.
Love it.
Sorry about the shadowy/blurry pictures...........
I used my favorite go-to fabric......a drop-cloth from Home Depot and hot glued some the trim on.
I cut the drop-cloth to size then sprayed it with 2 coats of scotch guard. I did the same to the trim.
I also stained it with a Cabot mahogany stain that had been custom mixed but found it's way onto the oops paint shelf at Lowe's. I then applied Min-Wax clear wax and buffed it to a nice shine.
I love it.
What have you been working on; I'd love to know?
